A Schmoopy Birthday Blog for Our Very Own Nick @ Noon

(L) Nick Alan & Ellen Tailor in 2008 // (R) Nick Alan & Ellen Tailor in 2014

WARNING: An unusually schmoopy post is about to happen in honor of Nick @ Noon's birthday.

Many of you don't know that Nick and I are nearing a decade of friendship. We both started out in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where I would sneak in to the radio station late at night and help Nick host his show. One time I said Taylor Swift sounded like a dying cat and our boss banned him from putting me on the air ever again. Nick still let me secretly come in and taught me how to run all of the technical stuff. He taught me valuable skills that have helped me get to where I am today in my career.

We've built a lot of memories together and I love Nick, and his wife, Kristen, as if they were my siblings. Nick moved to Seattle just a few short months before I did so it was nice to at least have one familiar face in a new place. Not to mention I love smothering their daughter, who I call my niece, Kinsley with kisses when I nanny her a few times a week.

From professional to personal and everything in between, Nick has been beyond-words an amazing friend. Happiest of days to a guy whose talent is off the charts, whose friendship is a true blessing, and who's one of the best human beings I've ever met. Thank you for being you!

Tips For Losing Weight From Someone Who's Doing It

Everyone asks what advice I give for losing weight and the #1 thing is to take it one day at a time. I was craving Starbucks this morning so I didn't deprive myself. Iced green tea, (No sweetener. No water.) a protein pack and a banana. I choose not to eat the bread that comes with it though. Your body will burn all of the natural sugar in the fruit throughout the day.

No matter what you have for breakfast, make sure to drink water. I try to finish a gallon of water everyday. Do I do it everday? Nope. But I get close. My sleep has improved so has the condition of my skin.

As far as supplements, I'm no doctor. These are just what I've found work for me. I take Garcinia Cambogia because it helps curb my carb cravings. Green Coffee Bean Extract helps give me a boost of energy without the jitters. It also claims to help lose weight but I'm not sure I buy that. Because I have a darker skin tone, my body needs more Vitamin D. Pair that with living in Seattle so I take 5000 IU's as suggested by my doctor. Lastly, I take Biotin to help with healthy hair, skin and nails.

Everyone is different but this is what I've found works for me. Power up & win the day! You can do it.

Why I'm Done Proving My Loyalty - GO HAWKS

I'm done proving my loyalty to OUR beloved Seattle Seahawks. Let me set the record straight.

Yes, I was born and rasied in Michigan. No, I was never a Detroit Lions fan.

I came to Seattle at the end of 2011 and knew no one. The only thing I had in common with my new community was our sports teams and I took it upon myself to invest in my hometown team. Since I didn't have a loyalty towards any NFL team, I decided to make the Seahawks MY team.

I've been called stubbornly loyal on numerous occasions throughout my life. If you follow me on Twitter, you witnessed it first hand. Here are a few of my tweets during the NFC Championship game.

It's one thing to be worried and it's another to call a game in the first half. But regardless, why are the 12's turning on one another? Who cares if we have "bandwagoners?!" That just means more people rooting for OUR team! More people supporting the blue and green! More people yelling LOUDER at Century Link!

Now's the time to stand together and root our beloved Seahawks onto a REPETE victory.

It was an emotional game! I was testing out my selfie angle when BeastMode scored the touchdown that took us into overtime. Please don't mind my post-workout, make-up free face but this is 100% pure emotion.

There's nothing left to say besides, "GO HAWKS!"

What Ellen Tailor Wore - 30th Bday in Las Vegas

Dress - Samila Boutique
Earrings - Loren Hope
Cuff Bracelet - Loren Hope

Shoes - Glint

With only 2 days before my 30th birthday bash in Las Vegas, I was scrambling to find a dress! I've recently lost quite a bit of weight and I have no idea how to dress my new body. After 3 trips to the mall and countless dresses later, I stumbled onto Samila Boutique in Redmond on Yelp.

Not only did I find a great dress, they were able to customize and alter it on the spot keeping in mind my short time frame. We added the V-shaped shall in the front to help keep the sisters secure. I walked in to the store insecure and doubtful and left with a huge smile knowing I was going to WOW my friends with my one-of-kind dress.

Jumpsuit - ASOS
Necklace - Loren Hope
Earrings - Loren Hope
Cuff Bracelet - Loren Hope
Watch - Michael Kors
Shoes - Glint

I had ordered this jumpsuit online for a different event but thought it would be a nice change from the typical "Las Vegas dress" that everyone would be wearing. It was still sexy but comfortable. I paired it with a white blazer to keep from getting cold.

I wore the same shoes with both outfits. A friend had bought them for me when I first got the job here with Fitz in the Morning three years ago. I never had a good reason to wear them until now! They were perfect! Here's a similar pair by the same brand.

All in all, my 30th birthday weekend was pure perfection. Thank you to my friends who made the trip and thanks to all of you for all of the well wishes! It was a birthday I'll never forget.

Russell Wilson Bought Me A Drink!

I'd like to thank Russell Wilson and the rest of the Seahawks for these birthday cocktails. It was my first time flying Alaska Airlines and because the Hawks won, everyone got free drinks! How awesome is that?!

My friend, and trainer, Karen Burton cheering on the Seahawks!
Like my sister's photobomb?

E's getting G's! My friend Evan and I won some cash betting on the Hawks. Then we took our winnings and bet it all on black. Luckily, black hit and cha-ching! He's my good luck charm.

My very best gal pal, Alexis Smith. (Yep, she's the one I like to name drop since she's the traffic anchor on KIRO 7 morning news.) This weekend wouldn't have gone so smoothly if it wasn't for her. Absolutely LOVE my bestie!!!

I was so happy to have my little sister, Yanna, flying in from Michigan!
She was happy to have gotten out of the snow. HaHaHa!

Ok, the post you've been waiting for is coming tomorrow. What I wore and how YOU can get the look. (If you follow me on Instagram, you may have already seen the looks and OMG the shoes are to die for!)

What Happens in Vegas...

What happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas. This picture is proof. In fact, one of these hunky men called Oak Harbor, WA, home. Can you guess which one? Keep reading to find out...

A special friend who couldn't make the trip to Vegas set all of us up with a night at Chippendales. Good GOD! I was one of the lucky few who got pulled on stage and that's easily a night I'll never forget. (Probably not a night the guys won't forget either if I do say so myself! hahaha) If you've ever been to the show, you'll know why I was the first one able to take my picture with these hunky men.

Ok. Can you spot the PNW native? Take a look at the picture again, I'll wait...

...got your guess?

See the beautiful man in the front row? On the left? That's a good old Oak Harbor boy! (And he was our personal favorite...duh!)

More on my 30th Vegas Bash on tomorrow's blog. :)

Check back all this week and I'll post pictures and stories recapping the weekend including my on-stage appearance with the Chippendales and how I scored a free cocktail courtesy of Russell Wilson!

Thanks for all of the well wishes. Cheers to here!

Weight Loss Wednesday #15 - Why I'm Mad About Losing Weight

Yeah, you read the title right. I'm mad about losing weight! Sounds silly, doesn't it?

One of my biggest motivators was to get in shape before my 30th birthday. With my celebration happening this weekend in Las Vegas, I needed a new dress or two. I confidentetly walked into the mall only to realize the styles that used to look good on me don't anymore! I have no idea how to dress this new body.

I went to three different malls and tried on countless dresses. Ask me how many outfits I have? ...NONE! I don't know what I'm going to do. I'm so sad that I can't find anything that I don't even want to go to Vegas anymore. Ok, I realize I'm being a little ridiculous but it's how I feel nonetheless.

Rant over. Now it's time to go back to the mall...ugh.
