Relationships: The best decade to date?
According to a new survey from Match.com, the single best decade for dating is when you’re in your 60s.

The survey found that older daters are also the happiest daters.  Older daters feel the greatest level of happiness combined with the least amount of stress over their relationship status.

They feel comfortable telling the truth about who they are – and don’t feel like they have to play games to make themselves more attractive to potential dates.
They also are able to make decisions quickly and cut their losses, because they have learned life is too short for dating games.  All this adds up to a relatively drama-free dating experience that’s very different from the games and garbage that younger daters have to endure. (Yahoo Match)

The Name Game
Remembering people's names- anyone else have a problem with this?  I have never been good at it, despite trying many of the "tricks" people have recommended, names don't stick.
On the other hand, if I have a conversation with someone- I almost always remember what we talked about.  The vacation they took, the show or movie we talked about or the specifics of their shopping trip.  Those details- got 'em- they're locked in.  Names- in one ear and out the other.
I'm not sure how many of you have a similar issue but I found these tips on yahoo and thought I'd share.  Here's to boosting our memories!

MEMORY BOOSTERS

Here are some tips on how to make your memory into a steel trap:

Sleep on it – Experts say that this is this the best way to improve memory, because you’re allowing your brain to “solidify the connections between neurons.”

Walk it out – Exercising 3 times a week raises your heart rate and gets blood flowing to your brain. This helps promote memory in a big way.

Get fishy – Toss your supplements like ginko biloba for a more tried and true product like fish oil, which is associated with lowering the risk of dementia.

These are real college classes!
College just got a little more interesting.  Nothing like this was offered when I was in school!

"California, Here We Come": The O.C. and the Self Aware Culture of 21st Century America: This class, offered at Duke, not only discusses the O.C., but Real Housewives of Orange County and The Hills. Imagine the homework: Tonight you need to watch season one...

Learning From YouTube: Need to know how to French braid your own hair? How about change the oil in your car? Check out YouTube, right? Thank you Pfitzer College for exploring the learning potential of YouTube. Maybe the professor posts lecture videos?!

Lady GaGa and the Sociology of Fame: Yep, at the University of South Carolina you can take an in-depth look at the pop star's music and rise to fame.

Kinky Crafts: This class is Christian Grey approved, people. You actually learn how to make things like leather cuffs and other naughty bedroom gear.
Reed College must have a very open-minded student body!

Harry Potter Lit: Ohio State has many other colleges following their lead when it comes to studying Rowling's infamous series at an adult level.

Facebook friends make you fat!!!???
While being popular on social media sites can boost your ego and self-esteem, having lots of Facebook friends can also make you fat, broke and lazy.

Researchers have found that being the king of social media also disrupts your self-control, causing you to over-eat, over-spend and under-exercise.

When your ego is pumped by all your adoring “friends” on Facebook, you feel good and can rationalize ordering dessert or buying something you don’t really need.
“I feel good today,” you tell yourself. “I deserve a treat.”

And, the next thing you know, you’re fat, broke and lazy. (Times of India)

Thanksgiving Travel?
When it comes to Thanksgiving travel, all days are not created equal.
Travel industry insiders say that when you fly is almost as important as when you book.
Flying on Thanksgiving Day itself is usually a bargain, but there are other days that are also fairly cheap.

Next to flying to your destination on Thanksgiving Day and returning the following day (Friday, November 23), the cheapest date combo is departing on Thanksgiving Day and returning the following Tuesday (November 27).

And, if you want to avoid Thanksgiving Day for flights altogether, your best bet is to get out of town Monday, November 19th and return the day after Thanksgiving. (ABC News)

Wisdom

The wise are glad to be instructed, but babbling fools fall flat on their faces.

I'm going to be honest with you and let you know that I hate being told what to do.  I really should have followed the lead of my father and gone into business for myself, because I believe that is the best place for those of us that are ADHD and have difficulty being told what to do.  Now don't misunderstand me to say that I don't listen to anyone, because that is not the case.  If I know that someone is an expert in their field or has the credentials and track record to back up what they are saying then I will listen to them.  I am very open to teachers, philosophers, and great leaders, but I just don't liked to be bossed around.  Well this passage would lead me to believe that there are defiantly times that I need to shut-up and allow myself to be instructed.  What about you?

The point I think we need to get here is that we should at least be open to being instructed and yes...bossed around a bit.  We should welcome other's instruction into our life.  It doesn't mean we always have to follow the instructions from others, but we should hear them out.  Most of us (me) are quick to "babbling" when being instructed, and Solomon tells us to just listen and welcome other's input.

Thought for the day:  Let's all work on giving others a chance to give us instruction.  If you are like me, you know that you are a genius, know it all, and should always be the leader, but we should at least give others a chance (insert lol).  Seriously, we can learn from others and should at least give them a chance to be heard.  Who knows, we may just learn something!

The lovely Taylor Swift is on the cover of Cosmo and if you've heard her new album, Red, it's pretty clear she's not going to be singing just country anymore. Whether you like it, or hate it, she's brought country music to people who normally wouldn't have listened to the genre before.
